Buffer and flags
Why one detection never gets anyone banned: how the buffer grows and drops, when a flag lands, and what “faster repeat flag” is for.
Every check pushes the player’s buffer up or down. When it fills up, that’s a flag. Click the checks below or run the example; the maths is exactly what the plugin does with its default settings.
How the buffer fills up
A suspicious check adds to the buffer, a clean one takes away. Reach 40 and it’s a flag (VL +1), then the buffer drops to 20.
Threshold: 80 or 90 %
A check above the threshold fills the buffer; anything below doesn’t. 90 % only lets confident detections through, and that’s what we recommend. 80 % punishes faster but can catch more false positives. Picking a threshold also sets the growth multiplier for you: 110 at 90 %, 45 at 80 %.
How the buffer moves
- Up. A check above the threshold adds
(confidence − threshold) × multiplier. Threshold 90 %, multiplier 110, a 99 % check: +9.9 goes into the buffer. - Down. A check below the decay threshold (50 % by default) takes off up to 1.5 at a time. The surer the model is that the player is clean, the more it takes off.
- Between the decay threshold and the detection threshold, the buffer doesn’t move.
The flag
When the buffer reaches capacity (40 by default, you can’t go below 30), the player gets a flag: VL +1 and that flag’s step of your ladder kicks in. After the flag, the “faster repeat flag” amount stays in the buffer, 20 of 40 by default, so the second flag lands twice as fast as the first.
| Checks in a row | Adds | To 1st flag | To the next |
|---|---|---|---|
| 99 % | +9.9 | 5 | 3 |
| 95 % | +5.5 | 8 | 4 |
| 92 % | +2.2 | 19 | 10 |
| 90 % | nothing | — | — |
The table assumes a 90 % threshold, multiplier 110, capacity 40 and 20 kept after a flag.
To watch the buffer live, run /mlsac monitor prob <name>. Above your hotbar you’ll see the last check’s confidence, the buffer and VL.
Where to change it
Configs → preset → “Detection”: “Detection threshold”, “Buffer capacity”, “Faster repeat flag” and “Buffer growth and decay”. The last one has a “to 1st flag / to next” table for your own numbers.
Relogging won’t help
Leave and come back within 15 minutes, and the buffer, check history and VL are all still there. VL sticks around until the server restarts.
